Kent Premier League

23rd February 2008
Lordswood 4   Deal Town 1

Lordswood finally got a win that performances have been saying will happen and what a win as they dominated this match for most of the game.

The mood was set in just 30 seconds when Martin Difede cut inside from the left wing and his shot was saved at the second attempt and in the 10th minute a corner was not cleared properly and Lewis Taylor saw his chipped shot beat the keeper but also the bar, finally in the 23rd minute Lordswood took the lead when Lewis Taylor’s free kick into the area was flicked on by Scott Bucklen causing a melee to ensue with numerous attempts to score by a Lordswood player but Darren Marsden on the far post was the man to stab it home. Two minutes later Darren received the ball from Lewis went forward and his shot from 25 yards went just past the post. In the 30th minute Lordswood were awarded a free kick 20 yards out centrally and up stepped Darren who’s curling effort went just past the post. In the 34th minute Lordswood doubled their lead when Rowan Arnott came out of his goal to make a clearance and Lee Farrell raced on to it and got to it before the advancing Jurgen Wild the Deal keeper and shot into an empty net.

The second half saw Deal come out a bit better than the first but having survived the initial storm Lordswood went three up in the 53rd minute when Lee Farrell on halfway passed in to Darren Marsden who ran forward before releasing the ball inside the full back for Adrian Bagshaw who ghosted in and shot home from 10 yards for his first for the club. Deal then came again and in the 57th minute David Bathgate in the area saw his shot rebound back off the post into the path of Mark Pollard and his effort saw saved by Rowan’s Legs. In the 60th minute Lee Jones running forward went into the area but left his shooting boots at home as he shot over the bar. In the 86th minute Lee Farrell combined with Debutant Lucas Allegro and Lucas’s shot under pressure in the area went over the bar but then Deal unexpectantly got a consolation goal in the 88th minute when a free kick conceded on the edge of the Lordswood area centrally positioned saw David Bathgate shoot home, but in the next minute straight from kick off Darren running forward passed to Lucas who crowned his debut by shooting home from 15 yards.
