Lordswood 2   Erith and Belvedere 3

Lordswood lost an entertaining match in this rearranged match when Erith and Belvedere got the winner in the 81st minute after chances galore from both sides were missed.

Lordswood got of to the worst start when after three minutes they were one down when the ball ended up in the area and John Gallagher 6 yards out shot past Rowan. Lordswood equalised nine minutes later when a long throw into the area by Ben Ashdown saw the Belvedere defence allow the ball to bounce and Lee Morgan handled it and a penalty was given, up stepped Adam Douglas who coolly slotted into the bottom right hand corner. A minute later Belvedere was in front when a free kick into the area was flicked on for Chris Hill on the far post and his volley from 8 yards beat Rowan. Erith were now on top and in the 18th minute it could have been three when Matt Johnson running forward went across the field before releasing the ball in the area for Steve White whose shot from 10 yards was parried away by Rowan and from the resulting corner Lee Morgan’s shot was pushed over the bar by Rowan. In the 20th minute a Lordswood counter attack saw Lee Farrell on the edge of the area turn and shoot causing Matt Bromby to acrobatically save it. In a topsy turvy last 11 minutes both sides could have scored when in the 34th minute Adam Douglas on the edge of the area saw his shot parried away only for Lee Dawes to react fastest and his snap shot was again parried by the keeper and then cleared, three minutes later a long ball forward saw Morgan latch on to it and his shot from 25 yards came back of the crossbar, two minutes later the ball arrived at Scott Bucklen’s feet via a rebound and once in the area his shot was parried away by the keeper but in the 41st minute Lordswood got the equaliser when Darren Marsden out on thee right wing swung the ball over and Craig Beckwith came in and his flying header from 5 yards hit the back of the net.

The second half was a little pedestrian compared to the first but both sides still had chances to score and in the first two minutes Lordswood had two chances to score but lack of composure stopped them scoring and then in the 54th minute Austin Berkeley crossed to the near post where Chris hill appeared but his side foot volley went wide. In the 67th minute a long ball forward saw White latch onto it and he saw Rowan rushing out but his chip went wide. In the 74th minute Martin Difede on the right wing saw his cross deflected out to Adam Douglas who sidestepped the defender went into the area and shot but again the keeper was able to save with his legs and then in the 81st minute Belvedere got the winner when a corner into the six yard box was missed by everyone except John Farley who stabbed home. This was a kick in the teeth for the Lordswood players as they had played well but alas they missed chance that could have made a difference.
