Kent Premier League
20th October 2007
Lordswood 0 Erith Town 1
Lordswood lost in the most horrible way when Erith scored in the 88th minute to win a game that seemed destined for a draw.
Erith came out of the blocks the quickest and in the 5th minute a free kick into the area saw John Colman’s header come back off the
crossbar and then hacked away and in the 11th minute a corner into the area saw James Holder on his own head wide from 8 yards. Lordswood finally got
going and in the 16th minute a Martin Difede free kick into the area saw Danny Malone rise but his header went wide. The game went quiet for a while until
the 28th minute when Adrian Bagshaw picked up a loose ball 35 yards out and decided to try his luck and this caused Tim Holmes to push it around the post
for a corner. Two minutes later Martin Difede on the right wing tricked his way past two defenders went into the area and his low cross into the six yard
box caused Erith to hack away under pressure. The last chance of the half came in the 36th minute when Kevin George 25 yards out received the ball and
turned and shot forcing Rowen to save.
The second half was a bit of a non descript game as both sides cancelled each other out although both side promised to create but when
they got close to goal they gave it away, in the 64th minute saw a corner to the back post of Lordswood’s area saw George head over the bar and that looked
as if it was going to be it but the sting in the tail came in the 88th minute when the ball was sent out wide for John Colman who got to the by-line and
his cross to the back post saw substitute Marcus Cassius stab home. The home team were deflated after this and also they did not have much time to get
back but maybe after the Herculean efforts on Tuesday night maybe this was a game to far.
