Kent Premier League Cup Group C
12th December 2006
Erith Town 0 Lordswood 1
Tonight’s game was meaningless for both clubs as Erith had Qualified for the Quarter Finals and Lordswood had not so Lordswood came to
Erith Sports Stadium with fringe and Reserve players maybe to prove a point. In cold conditions the players of both sides got on with the game with
Lordswood probably the better side with the fringe players trying to impress Shawn who was watching. The first half saw only a few chances occur and the
first came in the 7th minute when Scott Gillman got to the by-line and crossed into the area for Lee Farrell back after suspension but unfortunately it hit
him and went over the bar then in the 13th minute a cross field ball saw the defender miss it and Jamie Taylor latch onto it and his shot from 15 yards was
pushed away by James Wastell only for his own defender to just beat Dave Masters to it and clear for a corner. Erith’s only chance came in the 21st minute
when a ball crossed to the near post found Dave Milton whose shot came back off the crossbar.
The second half was only 1 minute old when the ball whizzed across the area to the back post where Dave Masters unfortunately got a bad
touch and put it wide. Lordswood were now starting to breed confidence and playing some good football without the finished product but in the 75th minute
they nearly scored when Dave Masters passed to Lee Farrell who went forward and his shop forced the keeper Danny Williams to palm it away for a corner.
Lordswood finally got a deserved winner in the 88th minute when a long kick from Dan Mason saw Dave Masters latch onto it after the defender missed the
bounce and from 20 yards he shot home. The final whistle went and it is now three games unbeaten for Lordswood forward saw Cable in the area but from 6
yards unopposed shot wide. The final whistle went and Lordswood take home the three points and overall deserved it.
