Kent Premier League
5th January 2008
Holmesdale 1 Lordswood 1
Lordswood came away from Oakley Road with a point when they got their equaliser 5 minutes from time. This was a game to forget as both
sides struggled to make a game of this. In the first half Holmesdale were kicking downhill but the first half chance of the game came in the 10th minute
when Alec Osborne’s right wing cross found Lee Farrell on the far post and his header hit the side netting. Holmesdale then had the monopoly of half
chances up to half time when in the 18th minute Daniel MacDiarmid was put through in area but Rowen came out quickly and gathered the ball just before
MacDiarmid. Two minutes later Tom Creasy received the ball 25 yards out and his shot was easily saved by Rowen and then in the 27th minute Lordswood got a
bit lucky when Creasy on the edge of the area tried to thread the ball through for MacDiarmid but it hit Ben Ashdown and Rowen happily collected it. In the
41st minute Stuart Read ran onto a through ball and from 20 yards his shot went just wide.
The second half was going the same way as the first until the 77th minute when a long diagonal ball caught Lordswood out and Tom Creasy
latched onto it and this time went forward into the area and shot past the advancing Rowen to put Holmesdale into a lead which in reality went against the
way the game was going and then with five minutes to go Lordswood equalised when Danny Malone in the area kept possession even though he was tripped and
passed out to Lewis Taylor on the left wing and his cross into the area saw a flying Ben Ashdown head into the net from 6 yards.
