F.A Cup Extra Preliminary Round Replay

    Lordswood’s F.A.Cup hopes suffered in an embarrassing defeat to Hythe. As on Saturday they started off slowly and did not get any better. Hythe took the lead within 90 seconds when Lee Winfield found space on the right and ran from halfway into the area and shot past Gavin. Lordswood did have a half chance in the 6th minute when Sean Hetterley on the right cut inside and tried to find Gary East in the area but Gary under pressure could not latch onto it. Hythe increased their lead in the 22nd minute when a ball forward was flicked on by Roy Godden to Stuart Daffin who from 20 yards lobbed Gavin.

    It became worse in the 34th minute when Daffin again latched onto a long ball and lobbed Gavin again. In the 45th minute Sean Hetterley running forward passed into Gary East in the area and he was fouled and a penalty given. Up stepped Sean but typical of the night Lordswood were having his shot went wide left of the post. Lordswood came out looking for pride but the game carried on as in the first half with Hythe showing more commitment and endeavour and in the 60th minute they went four up when Gavin’s clearance by the left hand touchline went straight to Dale Skelton on the halfway line who controlled it and shot from 40 yards into an empty net.

    In the 67th minute it became five when Daffin on the right hand corner of the area blasted his shot into the top left hand corner beating Gavin all ends up. Lordswood nearly got a consolation when Sean Hetterley’s cross into the six yard area was met by Sam Cormack but his flying header went wide and then in the 77th minute Hythe got their sixth when a long ball was missed by Ashley and Godden latched on to it and his low cross was bundled in by Daffin for his fourth.

    The final whistle went and the Lordswood players trooped off the pitch with embarrassment all over their faces.
