    Hythe are starting to become Lordswood’s bogey side as in four meetings so far this season they have won two at Martyn Grove and won one at Reachfields.

    The game started with Lordswood coming out of the blocks and in the 8th minute an Andy Mills free kick from 30 yards out was driven in and Aaron Burrett flicked shot went just wide but this must have woken Hythe up as in the 11th minute they nearly went one up in fortunate circumstances when a cross into the area was punched clear by Gavin but sideways and it hit Roy Godden but went just past the post. In the 20th minute they did go one up when Godden beat the offside trap and ran on into the area and went round Gavin and stroked the ball home. The lead was increased four minutes later when Damien Able on the left wing crossed low into the six-yard box for Godden to stab home.

    The second half saw Lordswood come out quicker without really bothering Hythe and in the 57th minute it could have been worse as a cross into the area was met by Godden whose side foot effort went just past the post. In the 66th minute Martin Chandler saw his 25 yard shot go just over the bar but in the next minute they did increase their lead when the ball went into the area where the first shot was parried away by Gavin but went straight to Lee Winfield who moved the ball sideways before stroking the ball into the back of the net. Lordswood had their first real chance of the half in the 73rd minute when Andy Mills free kick was punched clear by Nick Day but only to Mike McKenna whose snap shot went past the post. In the 80th minute a long ball forward found Mike Ward in space and his shot from 25 yards went past the post. The final whistle went and Lordswood’s midweek woes continue, as they have still to record a win.
