Kent Premier League

8th April 2008
Sevenoaks Town  6   Lordswood  0

Lordswood came away from Greatness Park lucky it was not more as Sevenoaks went on the rampage.

The game was only two minutes old when Steve Evans saw his shot cannon back off the crossbar from 10 yards and the rebound was headed over the bar then in the next minute Adam Whitnal received the ball 25 yards out and his shot was pushed around the post by Jamie Williams. In the 5th minute Suliman Charm went into the area and was fouled and a penalty given, up stepped Adrian Griffiths but his weak penalty was saved by Rowan and the rebound came out and Andy Constable shot against the crossbar. In the 10th minute Aaron Smith went racing down the right wing and delivered a great cross into the area for Constable but he headed over while unopposed. In the 13th minute Steve O’Keefe went into the area and his shot was cleared off the line. Two minutes later Pat Bishenden crossed to the edge of the area for Bradley king who knocked it forward for Adam Whitnal and his shot from 18 yards was saved at the second attempt by Williams. The game was becoming an open game but Sevenoaks were just a little bit sharper but the carnage was to come later. In the 31st minute Chris Walker who would be the Bain of the Lordswood team ran down the right before side footing to Constable who shot home from 10 yards. Two minutes later Walker ran from halfway before releasing Constable who cut inside and shot past Rowan. Two minutes later another right wing cross to the back post saw Charms shot saved by Rowan. A minute later and Charm went into the area and was fouled and a second penalty was given, this time upstepped Constable to complete his hat trick but his effort was superbly tipped onto the post by Rowan before being cleared. Another chance went a begging in the 38th minute when Rowan punched clear under pressure but only to Steve Evans whose first time lob caused Rowan to run back and punch clear and then in the very next minute a Lordswood player looked to have been fouled but the Referee played on and the ball ended up in the area on the right side for Walker to shoot home.

The second half was going to be the Lordswood players playing for pride and for 10 minutes it looked better but in the 55th minute Walker raced clear and shot past Rowan and then four minutes later Evans on the edge of the area shot home. In the 66th and 68th minute Toby Webb saw his first shot saved by Rowan and his second beat Rowan but not the post and then in the 73rd minute the demolition finished when the ball in the area arrived at Michael Cook’s feet and he shot home. The last 17 minutes were agony for the Lordswood supporters as they just wanted that final whistle to come and they could go home and forget about the night.
