Kent Premier League

2nd December 2006
Sporting Bangal  0   Lordswood  3

Lordswood got back to winning ways with a comfortable victory at the Mile End Stadium. The game was only two minutes old when Lordswood should have taken the lead when Gary East was put through and he ran forward into the area but unlike Thursday night this time he shot past the post. Another chance came in the 6th minute when Nick Smith on the left got to the by-line passed low to Dave Forster who passed it inside to Gary East who knocked it back to Ray Broad whose shot from 18 yards was saved by the keeper Uzzaman. Two minutes later a corner by debutant Stuart Harrison to the back post saw Mike McKenna’s diving header go just past the post. Sporting finally got going when in the 12th minute a cross into the area found Prince Pipim and as he was about to shoot Adam Ling came across and blocked his shot for a corner, a minute later the corner was cleared but only for Sporting to cross to the back post where Sadique Ali was looking off side but he controlled it and saw his shot come back of the post and in the very next minute a long ball forward caught the Lordswood defence out and Gavin came rushing of his line and outside his area tried to clear but missed his kick and Pipim under pressure from defenders shot just wide of the post.

Lordswood settled down after that funny three minutes and in the 25th minute they took the lead when Ashley Russell’s long ball forward went to far and straight to the keeper but he fumbled it and Mike McKenna following up nipped in and shot into an empty net. Four minutes later Nick Smith on the left cut inside and saw his shot from 25 yards hit the crossbar come back just evading Mike McKenna 6 yards out. The very next minute saw Ali in the area shooting from 15 yards but Gavin saved it and the clearance came out to Gary East on the right and his cross into the area saw Mike McKenna get it after the defender slipped but his shot was again saved by the keeper. Up to half time Lordswood were still creating chances but not putting them away as in the 36th minute the ball forward found Gary East who ran forward before passing to Mike McKenna whose shot was saved and then in the 39th minute a long punt up field by Gavin saw Gary East in but again his shot was easily saved by the keeper and in the 42nd minute Ashley Russell crossed into the area for Mike who 8 yards out unopposed headed over.

The second half was all Lordswood as they took control of the game and in the 51st minute they went two up when a back pass was too short and Mike McKenna nipped in and went around the keeper and slotted in from an acute angle. In the 58th minute Stuart Harrison picked the ball up on halfway and went forward and from 18 yards saw his shot go just past the post. Four minutes later Harrison did score when he picked up the ball 30 yards out went forward and his shot from 20 yards got a slight deflection and beat the keeper. In the 68th minute another chance came when Stuart Harrison passed back to Adam Ling whose cross into the area was flicked on by Mike for Nick Smith but his shot went across the goal and the post. Mike McKenna had a glorious chance to get a hat trick when in the 75th minute he ran forward unopposed from halfway but his shot from 15 yards went past the post.

The final whistle went and the Lordswood Management can be pleased after that performance but can feel that the winning margin should have been bigger as a host of chances were missed and also that Stuart Harrison had a good debut.
