Kent Premier League Cup Group C
13th November 2007
Lordswood 1 Sporting Bengal 1
This was a game of two halves as Lordswood dominated the first but fell away in the second allowing Sporting Bengal back into the game.
Lordswood came out of the blocks quickly and in the 8th minute Darren Marsden passed to Mark Vernon on the left wing and his low cross found Tommy Davidson
6 yards out on his own but he miscontrolled and then his shot was deflected for a corner.
In the 18th minute Gary Martin knocked the ball to Darren who from 25 yards saw his curling shot goal bound pushed round the post by Matt Dilworth. In the
28th minute a glorious chance came when Darren running forward passed to Mark Vernon on the left and he ran forward and then cut inside but then shot wide
but 5 minutes later he did score when Adrian Bagshaw on the right wing got a low cross in and Mark one foot out managed to stab home. Another chance went a
begging in the 38th minute when Craig Beckwith put Adrian in and he raced into the area but with the keeper coming out shot wide.
The second half saw Sporting come out the quickest and in then 49th minute a shot from 25 yards from Jamie Crouch caused Dan Mason making
his debut push it around the post. Lordswoods only real chance came in the 57th minute when a long ball forward from Dan saw the ball bounce and Mark
Vernon pounced on it and from 20 yards stabbed it just over the bar. Sporting came back and deservedly got the equaliser in the 67th minute when a long
diagonal ball found Leon Ryan in the area and he controlled before shooting past Dan. The only other half chance Lordswood had was in the 73rd minute
when a free kick into the area saw Lee Skinners flicked header go just past the post.
