    After a stop start season Lordswood finally had a game and won in a struggle against a team who three weeks ago won 6-0. Lordswood got off to a flyer as in the 3rd minute a long free kick was flicked on into the area for Jamie Taylor who seized on to it and rifled his shot into the net. This should have meant that they took the game to Sporting but they seemed to go back into their shell and in the 24th minute Prince Pipim latched onto a long ball and went into the area and went round Rowen Arnott but his shot luckily for Lordswood was weak and Adrian Bagshaw was able to clear. Three minutes later another long ball forward saw Matt McHugh (who had come on for Alec Osborne who had cut his head open and would need stitches) latch onto it and he went into the area went round the keeper but his cross was cleared for a corner. In the 32nd minute a free kick into the Lordswood area saw Jack Taylor on his own 6 yards out head over the bar. In the 37th minute Matt McHugh on the right crossed to the back post for Craig Beckwith whose shot went into the side netting.

    The second half was only 7 minutes old when Lordswood increased their lead when Matt on the right crossed low to Jamie Taylor in the area and his cross shot was knocked in by Lee Farrell now could Lordswood go on and dominate and score more goals but for reasons only known to the players it did not happen and Sporting Bengal came into the game and in the 54th minute a cross into the area saw Jack Taylor on his own head wide from 7 yards. The game went stale for the next 20 minutes and then Niz Hoque 30 yards out shot home in the 80th minute and in the 83rd minute Pipim was found wide on the left in the area but luckily for Lordswood he shot wide. The final whistle went and Lordswood had started their League cup campaign with a victory albeit a struggle.
