Kent Premier League

27th October 2007
Thamesmead Town 4   Lordswood 0

Lordswood lost to the lead leaders in what looks like emphatic style but for 30 minutes they put them under the rack and it could have been a different story.

Thamesmead came out quickly and the first half chance came in the 6th minute when Richard Dimmock latched onto a free kick and his low cross shot saw no one able to knock it in. In the 11th minute Lordswood got their first chance when an attack broke down and was cleared but only to Craig Beckwith who looked up saw the keeper of his line and from 30 yards lobbed him but Chris Conneally was able to get back and tip over the bar and from the resulting corner into the area was half cleared to Lee Skinner 15 yards out wide on the right and his shot went high and wide. Three minutes later Martin Difede harried the defender got the ball went forward passed to Jamie Taylor who’s shot from 20 yards was saved by the keeper. In the 23rd minute Lee Farrell chased the ball down then passed into Craig who on the stretch saw his shot saved. A minute later Thamesmead nearly scored against the run of play when Rikki Cable weaved his way forward before shooting but Stefan Willcock was able to push it around the post. The following minute Lee Farrell was put through on the left and he cut inside and shot but it went wide. Thamesmead were now just about getting into the game and in the 35th minute a Williams cross into the area saw Dimmock head back causing a scramble which the Lordswood defence eventually cleared then in the next minute Thamesmead took the lead when Lee Coburn was allowed to move forward with ease and once at the edge of the area his shot goalwards was only pushed away by Stefan and Lewis Taylor ball watching lost Curtis Williams who ran past him and stabbed home.

The second half was only seconds old and Thamesmead could have increased their lead when Cable found space went into the area but his shot was saved by Stefan’s legs as he rushed out. Lordswood carried on for the next 15 minutes as they had in the first 30 minutes but not really creating anything then in the 62nd minute Richard Dimmock picked up a loose ball went forward and scored from 20 yards. This seemed to deflate the Lordswood players and Thamesmead seemed to capitalize on this as they then controlled the game. In a rare attack Lordswood nearly got a goal back when a free kick into the area was cleared but only to Scott Bucklen but his volley went wide. Then as a lot of people know this can be a cruel game as in the lat 9 minutes Thamesmead scored two more firstly in the 81st minute Dimmock latched onto a ball he let it bounce before volleying home then in the 83rd minute Dimmock should have collected his hat trick when he latched onto a bad pass from Adam Douglas and from 20 yards pushed his shot wide but in the 90th minute they scored their fourth when Cable’s up and under saw Stefan under pressure from Dimmock and the ball came out and James Brown headed in from 6 yards.
