Lordswood 1   Thamesmead 6

Lordswood came up against a juggernaut in Thamesmead Town as they showed them how to play and score with Lordswood’s goal coming from them. The game started at a fast pace with both sides trying to play football in windy conditions and then Thamesmead opened the scoring in the 11th minute Richard Dimmock in the area crossed low to the far post where Rikki Cable was and he tapped in from 2 yards.

Ten minutes later it was two when Junior Baker on the left wing saw his cross into the area met by Pedro Knight who headed home unopposed from 6 yards. Lordswood were now playing catch up football and in the 26th minute a long ball forward saw Lee Coburn under pressure from Lee Farrell and the clearance ended up at Lucas Allegro’s feet but his shot from 22 yards went wide and then two minutes later Lucas collected a clearance and crossed to the far post where Lee Farrell was and his header goal bound was acrobatically saved for a corner by Chris Conneally. In the 35th minute Lee Farrell 25 yards out saw his shot saved by the keeper.

Thamesmead came out for the second half determined to take back control of the game and this they did as in the 53rd minute a cross into the area saw Cable’s header saved by Stefan Wilcock and half cleared only for the ball to come back into the area where Pedro Knight was waiting but his side foot shot went over the bar. Four minutes later Robbie Tarrant on the edge of the area crossed into the area where Knight was but again he wasted the chance and headed over the bar. Two minutes later came the goal of the game if not season as Scott Mulholland 30 yards out went forward unopposed and his shot from 25 yards beat Stefan all ends up. Lordswood had a glimmer of a chance in this game when in the 63rd minute when Jamie Taylor took a short corner to Lee Farrell whose cross to the back post was met by Lee Coburn who unopposed headed into his own net, but in the 70th minute they wrapped up the game when Cable was put through and he went into the area and chipped over the advancing Stefan. Six minutes later and Mulholland from 25 yards out shot home. It could have been worse when in the 85th minute Cable was put through but this time Stefan stayed big and saved his shot and saw it cleared but in the 87th minute a corner came into the area and James Brown ran into the area and with no one within 5 yards of him saw his bullet header hit the back of the net. The final whistle went and Lordswood were well and truly beaten by a team who could become champions.
