Lordswood 3   Tunbridge Wells 2

Lordswood finally got a win under their belts although in the end they made hard work of it as they went into a three goal lead but then went to sleep and Wells came back into the game but the final whistle went and relief in the Lordswood camp as a win was most welcome after their last few games.

The game nearly started with a bang as after 30 seconds Lordswood nearly took the lead when a throw in to Martin Difede in the area and he controlled and passed to Darren Marsden whose shot from 8 yards was pushed around the post for a corner by Matt Bromby. Tunbridge Wells had their moment in the 5th minute when the ball came across the area was met by Andy Boyle whose shot was pushed around the post by Rowen Arnott for a corner. After this excitement the game became quiet with neither side threatening but then in the 27th minute Darren Marsden coming in from the left wing passed to Mark Vernon who put Adrian Bagshaw in the area and his toe poked effort went just past the far post with the keeper beaten. Lordswood finally got a goal and took the lead on the stroke of half time when Lewis Taylor on the run passed to James Lyons who put Martin Difede in the area and his side foot shot finished in the back of the net.

The second half was only 30 seconds old when Darren Marsden in the area got to the by line and his low cross evaded everyone but Lewis Taylor on the back post but from one foot he managed to hit the ball over the bar but 30 seconds later all was forgotten as Darren Marsden slid the ball through for Martin Difede to chase and he went round the keeper and passed sideways for Mark Vernon to side foot home from three yards. Lordswood were now well and truly in command and in the 53rd minute they increased the lead when Lewis Taylor on halfway won a tackle raced forward passed to Martin and his shot going goalwards saw Mark Vernon making sure slid in and knocked in from one foot. Lordswood were now totally in control but the sting in the tail was to arrive as Lordswood suddenly went to sleep when in the 67th minute Tunbridge Wells finally had an effort on goal when Jason Bourne on the edge of the area saw his shot go wide and the very next minute Sam Phillips arrived in the area and his shot from 8 yards was superbly saved by Rowen for a corner then in the 75th minute Phillips again in the area saw his shot cleared of the line by Danny Malone under pressure then in the 78th minute Phillips must have wondered if he was going to score as again the area his shot from 8 yards was superbly saved by Rowen. They finally got their reward in the very next minute when a corner was deflected into the goal by Lloyd Gifton, then three minutes later a free kick conceded 20 yards out saw Gifton’s curling shot hit the back of the net, game on. The last 8 minutes were frantic as Lordswood defended and Tunbridge tried to get the equaliser but eventually the whistle went and relief for Lordswood as they picked up the three points.
